WOW - War Of Wombs
Written & Directed by Ravi Joghee
Writer’s Statement — WOW (War Of Wombs)
WOW began on a French beach. I was watching the sea, the wind, the children. Then something moved and unsettled me — a white girl carrying a black girl. I didn’t know their story. I didn’t need to. The image stayed, sharp and strange.
I came home thinking I’d write a small game between two children, ending in some unexpected, poetic twist. But as I wrote, the game sank deeper, pulling me toward places I hadn’t planned — toward history, power, and the first moments of this world. The beach became an altar. The play became a procession.
It took me more than six months to finish, not because I didn’t know the ending, but because I could feel it happening in front of me. Every step, every shadow, every bow was alive — not just in the script, but in me.
That’s WOW.
